About the Speakers

Thomas was born and raised in Walterboro, South Carolina where he grew up around the legal practice. Following in his father’s footsteps, Thomas decided to pursue his passion for the law. Thomas attended Clemson University for his undergraduate studies before attending The Charleston School of Law for law school.

Thomas began his career at a general practice firm in Walterboro in 2013. He began practicing law in North Charleston, South Carolina in June of 2014 when he became a member of the Brownlee Law Firm, working in the areas of residential and commercial landlord-tenant law, residential and commercial real estate litigation, commercial collections, community association law, and contract drafting. On December 1, 2015, Thomas became an associate attorney at Brownlee Whitlow Praet & File, PLLC.


Betsy Kirkpatrick has more than 7 years experience as a multifamily professional. She has risen through the ranks of the apartment industry, beginning her multifamily career as a property manager and then regional trainer with well-known property management companies. Prior to becoming the National Director of Recruiting for BG MULTIFAMILY, Betsy served as a Director of Sales in the Charlotte area and Regional Sales Manager for the middle/upper east coast.

Betsy is passionate about the multifamily industry, loves participating in apartment industry associations and she serves the industry each day by recruiting new and fresh talent to join our industry.
